February seems to be moving month here at Veeam these days! Once again we are close to a major release of Veeam Backup & Replication, with v11 just around the corner now. In preparation for the release we have seen the first of the update patches released for our supporting platform products. Importantly for our Veeam Cloud and Service Providers who are expected to receive RTM details any day now, it’s important to understand that the Backup for Office 365 5b patch needs to be applied ASAP before your main IaaS Veeam or Cloud Connect instances are updated to Update v11.

5b Patch for Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365
Before upgrading to 5b, as per the release notes, you need to be on the following versions.
- 3.0 (build 3.0.0.422)
- 4.0 (build 4.0.0.1345)
- 4a (builds 4.0.0.1553, 4.0.0.1580)
- 4b (builds 4.0.0.2516, 4.0.0.2549)
- 4c (builds 4.0.1.519, 4.0.1.531, 4.0.1.545, 4.0.1.612)
- 5.0 (builds 5.0.0.1061, 5.0.0.1063)
- 5a (build 5.0.0.1070)
After upgrading, your build number will change to 5.0.1.179.
It’s important to note that standalone instances and also those installed on top of instances with Veeam Backup & Replication v10, which would be most VCSPs who are utilising the Self Service feature through Cloud Connect need to be updated before RTM is applied. Anyone using the explorers and having customers performing self service will need to upgrade the Explorers as well otherwise you will get a similar error to the below:
This is is a Cumulative Patch and also includes a number of important resolved issues relating to SharePoint and OneDrive, Exchange Online, restore operations and general server fixes. The full list can be found in the Resolved Issues section of the VeeamKB. For those with tenants that run the Explorers for Exchange or SharePoint seperate to an installation of Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 or those running pre v10 versions, there are also upgrades for both contained in the patch release.
All set for Backup & Replication v11!
With all that in place, VCSPs and other partners should be ready to deploy the RTM of v11 when it becomes available. Stay tuned for more information on that front. There is lots to love about v10 for Service Providers and customers alike!
