This week, with the release of Veeam Backup & Replication v11a we also released Veeam Service Provider Console v6 (Latest build 6.0.0.7739). Veeam remains focused on developing integrated cloud and managed service operation capabilities, so service providers can continue to have awareness and control of workloads no matter where they live. With the release of Veeam Service Provider Console v6 we have expanded on its purpose-built capabilities, especially around licensing with integration into our VCSP Pulse Portal, this is a significant step to make every component of licensing easier for those that manage and maintain them.

Whether you’re looking to offer remote managed services for your customers’ on-premises environments or manage your multi-tenant Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), cloud backup or Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) offerings, Veeam Service Provider Console has you covered. Veeam Service Provider Console is offered FREE to current Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) partners. Not in the program? It’s free to join with no obligation to buy.
What’s new in v6
If you want to get the complete low down on what’s included in this release, the What’s new document can be accessed here.
My main features are listed below:
- Integration with VCSP Pulse Portal including License creation for Resellers
- Licensing and Reporting for Veeam ONE and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365
- Single Sign On via SAML
- RESTful API enhancements
- Enhanced Security for Management Agents
I’ll be looking to do a series of posts a couple of the above specifically for Veeam Cloud and Service Providers, but for now, in addition to the main features above of console v6, there are a number of smaller, but equally valuable ones. I’ve gone through the What’s New and listed them below, but again, make sure you check out the What’s New to find out about all of them in v6.
Licensing and Reporting for Veeam ONE and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365:
From v6, Service Providers have the ability to manage workload counts and licenses for Veeam ONE v11a and beyond as well as Backup for Microsoft 365 v6 and beyond. This includes License usage reporting and management in terms of integration with the Pulse Plugin to install, revoke and update license keys as well as support for hosted and remote server, meaning SPs can interact with servers that are installed in any location, be it the SP cloud platform or a remote site of a managed client.
Single Sign On Via SAML:
Service provider can now register external authentication providers for portal users that can be used over local users, improving user management experience. Resellers can also register their external authentication providers for users. In Console v6 we have out of the box support for ADFS, Okta and KeyCloak. Service providers or reseller can create multiple mapping rules for different roles of the backup portal for individual users or groups.
Remote PowerShell Sessions:
Probably one of the coolest features in v6 is the addition of a mechanism to connect to a Remote PowerShell session via Cloud Connect. We continue to find awesome ways to leverage Cloud Connect technology and this one can be used for remote troubleshooting, configuration and more… right from the Console UI.
Enhanced Security and Management Agents:
Console management agents now are using security certificates for authentication instead of the previous username and password. Audit log now contain tasks and events extended to license management and the Agent installation packages for Windows, Linux and macOS are pre-packed with the company credentials required to connect to back to the Console which removes the requirement for a user to type in the connection gateways, username and password manually adding to a more efficient installation experience.
Platform Supportability, Alarms and RESTful API and the rest…
This release also delivers full support for all recently shipping Veeam products including Veeam Backup & Replication 11a Including Nutanix AHV support, enhanced support for Veeam Agents and better backup copy job status updates for periodic copy mode. Service Providers can now have visibility into their own Veeam Backup & Replication servers hosted in their platforms without having to create dummy companies. There are a bunch of new alarms relating to Veeam ONE and Backup for Microsoft Office 365 and such features as Insider Protection. Welcome emails can be customized, there are UI and UX enhancements as well as some updates to the ConnectWise Plugins.
For the RESTful API, we are now up to v3.2 and there are 80+ updates made to existing methods and endpoints as well as additional ones based on new functionality. These is also a new read only user role. For those looking to get a quick look at what’s what in the current API, you can click on this link: https://veeam.per.sliema.com.au/api/swagger/index.html
