Yesterday, Veeam made available Cumulative Patch 3 for Veeam Backup & Replication 10a (build 10.0.0.4854 P20201202). This is the third cumulative patch for the v10 platform which is at v10a after that build was released in July. This contains a number of fixes but more importantly validates vSphere 7.0 U1 supportability. Having been downloaded over 500,000 times, It’s great to see a relatively small number of identified issues resolved making v10a an even more reliable platform.
vSphere Compatibility, Reliability and Cloud Connect Fix:
As mentioned, patch 3 for Veeam Backup & Replication 10a (build 10.0.0.4854 P20201202) resolves a number of issues, but most significant is the offical supportability of vSphere 7.0 Update 1 (vCenter and ESXi). That marks just over two months from its October 6th GA to when we have announced full supportability. With regards to issues that have been resolved, the most significant from my point of view are the ones relating to Cloud Connect Replication jobs failing under certain circumstances , but also there are a number of stability fixes for NAS backup making it an important update for those leveraging that feature.
Please confirm that you are running version 10a (build 10.0.1.4854) prior to installing this update. You can check this under Help -> About in the Veeam Backup & Replication console. After upgrade, your build number will be 10.0.1.4854 P20201202
Full List of What’s New:
- VMware vSphere 7.0 U1 support including new vSphere API version awareness, support for VMs with virtual hardware version 18 and automatic exclusion from processing of the new system VMs used by the vSphere Clustering Service (vCLS) as cluster agents for the High Availability feature.
- Microsoft Windows 10 version 20H2 and Microsoft Windows Server version 20H2 support as guest OS of VMs protected by host-based backups, for servers and workstations protected by agent-based backups, as Hyper-V hosts and for the installation of Veeam Backup & Replication and its components.
- RHEL 8.3 and SLES 15 SP2 distributions support by Veeam Agent for Linux 4.0.1.2372 (included in the update), by the Veeam Backup & Replication agent management functionality and for the installation of Veeam Backup & Replication components.
- Added support for S3-compatible object storage with versioning enabled and object lock disabled on the bucket (for example, Backblaze B2 cloud object storage). When registering such buckets, users will get a warning asking to ensure the bucket is set to clean up older object versions to avoid extra costs.
Conclusion:
Once again, v10a Patch 3 for Veeam Backup & Replication is an important update, if you have the ability to download the update do so and have it applied to your installations…
