I’m a fan of a good streak… but 2020 has forcefully ended a couple of existing streaks that I had in play. One of those was my annual trip over to Melbourne and Sydney for the VMUG UserCons. I’ve been doing these events since 2014 and they have always been high on my list of attendance. I even went so far to claim that these where the best events outside of VMworld. I love presenting to the community and some of my best moments have been achieved at these events and I have also formed some very strong friendships as a result of being there in person. I’m pleased to say, that I am maintaining the streak this year as I present for Veeam who continue to be a proud supporter of the UserCons.
With Covid-19 doing its thing, this years Melbourne and Sydney events where converted into a single Virtual Event. Though it must be said that the team behind it has been able to assemble an amazing collection of speakers which is reflected in the topics listed in the agenda. The event goes from 9am to 4pm Australian Eastern and offers multiple sessions all day outside of the Keynotes. Bruce Davie is giving a talk on Quantum Computing of all things with Joe Beda discussing Kubernetes.

On Demand Recovery and Migration with Veeam for VMware Cloud | Veeam | CORE
Cloud platforms present us with unique ways to solve problems. Recovery of workloads when a Disaster occurs is still relatively complex and can be costly. The reality is that not every organisation can afford to pay high compute and networking costs for a what if scenario. This is where Veeam, together with VMware and its growing VMware cloud partner platforms can help. In this demo driven session, we will look at how leveraging Veeam Cloud Tier with Object Storage can be used as a way to allow quick and efficient on demand recovery into a cloud platform like VMware Cloud on AWS. With the enhancements in our v10 release, the solution actually got better and is a lot more efficient at getting data up, and then recovering data into an SDDC. if disaster happens, can SDDC is spun up, a Backup & Replication Server deployed and configured into that SDDC
