VMware still represents a strong focus for the foundation of our core platform supportability. VMware workloads are still easily the most protected workloads by Veeam Backup & Replication. In addition to that, we have also always been aligned with VMware vSAN, having offered deep backup awareness since the release of Backup & Replication 9.5. We take VMware Certification very seriously and our Global Alliances Team work hard upon every release to work with VMware to achieve VMware Certification via the official VMware Compatibility Guide.

The Data Protection and File Services VMware Compatibility Guide lists File services and Data Protection partner products that are certified with VMware vSAN.

As of the posting of this, we are currently the only certified partner for Data Protection with ESXi 7.0 (vSAN 7.0). This also extends to VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC with versions 1.9, 1.10 and 1.11 supported with v10.

Even though we announce product supportability for platforms generally at major launch or updates or 90 days after a new VMware Product release, the official VMware Compatibility Certification adds a little more piece of mind for our customers and partners when looking at choosing Veeam for their data protection.

As a sidenote, for those waiting on VCD 10.1 support in Backup & Replication v10, we expect that to be part of the next update release for v10 which isn’t too far away.
